Jordan Daily - In conjunction with the upcoming 69th National Day of Malaysia on 31 August 2026, Education Malaysia Jordan, an agency operating under the purview of the Malaysian embassy, organised a vibrant Cultural Night 2026 at Jerash University, Jordan, that bringing together Malaysian students, members of the Malaysian community, representatives of the Embassy of Malaysia in Amman, and the university community to celebrate Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, diversity and national identity.
Organised as part of the National Day celebrations, the programme provided a meaningful platform for Malaysian students to showcase the nation’s unique multicultural identity and to share Malaysia’s diverse traditions, customs and heritage with the Jordanian community.
The event was officiated by Mr. Mohd Irfan Zulkarnaian, Head of Chancery, Embassy of Malaysia in Amman, represents the Ambassador of Malaysia to Jordan, Dato’ Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman, who conveyed his warmest congratulations to all Malaysian students on the occasion of Malaysia’s National Day celebrations. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of preserving and demonstrating Malaysian identity wherever Malaysians are, particularly while studying abroad.
He encouraged Malaysian students to continue representing Malaysia positively and to demonstrate the values, discipline, respect, courtesy and unity that characterise Malaysian society in all aspects of their daily lives. He also highlighted that cultural programmes such as this provide an excellent opportunity for students to become ambassadors of Malaysia and strengthen people-to-people relations between Malaysia and Jordan.
Welcoming the Official Staff Embassy of Malaysia in Jordan and The Malaysian students to Jerash University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Shuqeir, Vice President of Jerash University and The President of MUAAJ, expressed his appreciation for the Embassy of Malaysia and the Malaysian students for choosing Jerash University as the venue for this year’s celebration of the 69th Independence Day.
Prof. Dr. Abu Shuqeir emphasised the strong and longstanding relationship between Malaysia and Jordan, noting that bilateral relations continue to contribute to development and cooperation across various fields. He further expressed his hope that initiatives involving students and educational institutions would continue to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
The highlight of the evening was a series of Malaysian cultural performances presented by students representing different states across Malaysia. The performances showcased the remarkable diversity of Malaysian cultural traditions, including various forms of traditional poems, music, dance, attire and artistic expression.
Through these performances, the students demonstrated that Malaysia’s diversity is a source of strength and national identity. The programme reflected the spirit of unity in diversity, while highlighting the values of discipline, mutual respect, tolerance and appreciation for people of different cultural backgrounds.
The Cultural Night also provided Jordanian students and members of the university community with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Malaysia as a multicultural nation where people from different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds live together in harmony.
The celebration further served as a form of cultural diplomacy, strengthening educational and people-to-people ties between Malaysia and Jordan while promoting Malaysia as a welcoming, diverse and culturally rich country.
