Jordan Daily - Bulgaria and Jordan should build on longstanding ties by expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, technology and other sectors, Bulgarian Ambassador to Jordan Metin Kazak said at a reception marking Bulgaria’s Independence Day.
Kazak said the two countries, despite their geographical distance, shared ancient histories, strong cultural identities and close people-to-people links.
“Our relationship is built by people,” Kazak said, citing Jordanians who studied in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian community in Jordan and cooperation between academic, cultural and business institutions.
He highlighted the Association of Jordanian Graduates of Bulgarian Universities as an important link between the two countries and said the embassy would continue supporting the Bulgarian Sunday School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” in Amman and promoting Bulgarian culture and education.
Kazak said Bulgaria’s membership of the European Union and Schengen Area, combined with Jordan’s strategic regional position, created opportunities for stronger economic ties.
The ambassador also praised Jordan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East under King Abdullah II, saying dialogue, moderation, respect for international law and peaceful cooperation were especially important amid ongoing regional security and humanitarian challenges.
“Bulgaria and Jordan share the conviction that a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question can only be achieved on the basis of the two-state solution,” Kazak said, referring to a future in which Israel and Palestine live side by side in peace and security, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
Kazak also thanked sponsors Lacrima/Balkan, Panorama Printing House and Jadara, as well as the Fairmont Amman Hotel, for supporting the reception and showcasing Bulgarian cuisine.
The reception was attended by Badria Al Balbisi, Minister of State for Public Sector Development, along with Jordanian officials, diplomats, business and media representatives, members of the Bulgarian community and other guests.
