Jordan Daily - Jordan marked World Teachers’ Day with a celebration of teachers’ lasting impact on learners and communities, highlighting Queen Rania Teacher Academy’s joining the Teacher Task Force as a new connection between Jordan’s experience in teacher development and the international teaching community.
Held under the patronage of Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, the event was organized by UNESCO, and Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA), under the title “From Jordan to the World: Celebrating Teachers and Their Impact.”
The celebration brought teachers’ experiences into a shared conversation with national and international education experts, drawing attention to the people whose daily work shapes learning, supports students and influences communities far beyond the classroom, according to a joint statement.
Minister Mahafzah, emphasized that the teacher is the cornerstone of the education journey, stating: "To speak of teachers is to speak of those who shape individuals and build generations to come." His Excellency added: "At the Ministry, we believe that the standing of the teaching profession is inextricably linked to the standing of the nation itself. Advancing education begins with investing in teachers—empowering them, fostering their professional development, listening to their voices, and creating an enabling environment to carry out their mission with efficiency and competence." His Excellency noted that "the Ministry has succeeded in confronting challenges and transforming them into opportunities to empower and support teachers, striving to forge academic and educational partnerships with local and international partners to place the teacher at the heart of the transformation process."
Personal accounts from a teacher, a student and a parent illustrated how teachers’ influence extends beyond academic achievement. These voices placed the relationships between teachers, learners and families at the heart of the celebration, giving a personal perspective on the contribution of the teaching profession.
Noha Bawazir, The UNESCO Representative to Jordan said: “On World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the dedication of teachers across Jordan and the lasting difference they make in the lives of learners and communities. Sixty years after the adoption of the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, supporting teachers remains a shared priority. UNESCO values its partnership with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and Queen Rania Teacher Academy to advance quality education and support teachers in shaping a better future for every learner.”
QRTA’s joining the Teacher Task Force added an international dimension to the occasion. Highlighted under the theme “From Jordan to the World,” this step connected the Academy’s work in teacher development with a wider international community focused on teachers and the teaching profession.
Abdelmajeed Shamlawi, CEO of Queen Rania Teacher Academy, said: “World Teachers’ Day is an opportunity to celebrate teachers and recognize the lasting difference they make in the lives of their students and communities. At Queen Rania Teacher Academy, we believe that empowering teachers through continuous professional development is key to strengthening education. Today, we are also proud to mark an important milestone by joining the Teacher Task Force, connecting Jordan’s experience with the global teaching community and reaffirming our commitment to supporting teachers and shaping a better future for education.”
