The Jordanian-Bulgarian Friendship Committee in the Senate met with the Bulgarian ambassador Metin Kazak on Tuesday to discuss ways to boost ties between the two countries in various fields, the committee’s chairman Khaled Ramadan said.
Senator Ramadan noted Jordan and Bulgaria have solid, historical and distinguished relations based on mutual respect and shared interests, and were keen to develop cooperation in parliamentary, economic, cultural and social spheres.
He also added the two countries have similar views on regional issues, especially the need to end the war in Gaza , and to find a political solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state formula and international resolutions.
He praised King Abdullah’s efforts to mobilize international support for the Palestinian cause and to deliver humanitarian and medical aid to the besieged Gaza Strip through the Jordanian armed forces.
Bulgarian Ambassador Metin Kazak expressed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s role in the region and its support for a fair and comprehensive peace.
He said Bulgaria and Jordan are working to enhance bilateral relations through official visits and consultations at all levels.
The committee’s members thanked Bulgaria for not recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and urged it to take a firm stance against the Israeli war on Gaza.
