Jordan Daily – Micheál Martin, Ireland’s Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence, visited an UNRWA school and a health center at the Talibeh Palestinian refugee camp near Amman today.

Martin expressed his pleasure at meeting the students, teachers, doctors, nurses, and patients during his visit. He praised the key role of UNRWA in creating opportunities and a future for young Palestinian refugees and acknowledged the essential healthcare services provided to Palestinian refugees at the health center.

In a press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, Martin acknowledged the challenges faced by Jordan due to cross-border attacks by Israel and Iran. He commended Jordan’s clear stance on deescalation.

“The heart of the instability is the situation in Gaza,” Martin said. He affirmed Ireland’s commitment to a two-state solution and called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a surge in humanitarian aid into Gaza.
