Jordan Daily – Ministry of Education will refund all financial deductions made from teachers’ salaries in favour of the Teachers’ Syndicate, following a constitutional court ruling that deemed the union’s founding law unconstitutional.
Ministry spokesperson Mahmoud Hiyassat said on Thursday that all amounts previously deducted under the Jordanian Teachers’ Syndicate Law No. 14 of 2011 and its amendments will be returned to eligible recipients in accordance with official procedures.
The refunds will be processed starting from the date of the Constitutional Court’s decision, issued on July 17, 2025.
“This step comes in light of the court’s decision declaring the law establishing the Jordanian Teachers’ Syndicate unconstitutional,” Hiyassat said.
The syndicate had been established in 2011 to represent the country’s public school teachers, but its legality has faced increasing scrutiny in recent years.
