Jordan Daily – Jordan has activated military and defence cooperation agreements with several allied and friendly armies to strengthen the protection of its airspace, the military’s media director said on Saturday.
Brigadier General Mustafa Hiyari, director of military media at the Jordanian Armed Forces, said the measures aim to provide the “largest possible air cover” to enhance the protection of the kingdom’s skies.
Speaking during a press briefing, Hiyari said the move comes alongside coordination with the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission to organize air traffic and ensure the safety of the country’s airspace.
He added that the armed forces had already raised their level of readiness before the outbreak of the war, placing all formations and units on immediate alert.
Units deployed along the borders were reinforced, and border guard forces were supplied with additional equipment, devices and weapons to deal with exceptional circumstances, Hiyari said.
Air defence systems have also been activated according to the operational ranges of those systems, while aerial surveillance has been intensified using aircraft and radar systems to monitor the kingdom’s airspace, he added.
