MoU signed to expand services for juveniles and underprivileged families

Jordan Daily – Minister of Social Development, Wafaa Bani Mustafa, highlighted the important role of associations as key partners in the ministry’s endeavors to deliver essential services to vulnerable groups.

She emphasized that collaborative initiatives with partner institutions play a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of optimal care services.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Ministry of Social Development (MOSD) and Italian Hospital and Caritas Jordan, Bani Mustafa elaborated on the expansion of social welfare services offered by the ministry’s Juvenile and Family Protection Department.

“The ministry is dedicated to extending its services to marginalized groups, with a primary focus on health and psychological support for those in need,” Bani Mustafa remarked , underscoring the attention given to psychological counseling within the ministry’s shelter centers.

The minister provided statistical insights, noting that from the beginning of 2023 until the end of July, 1,169 juveniles had entered education and rehabilitation centers, with 1,170 individuals being discharged from these facilities. Additionally, 256 beneficiaries had entered social care facilities, of which 122 had been discharged during the same period.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) serves to strengthen the ministry’s dedication to providing high-quality social care services to its recipients.

The agreement is designed to implement focused initiatives tailored to address the distinct requirements of different beneficiary age segments. These initiatives span across social, medical, and psychological care services, as outlined in the official ministry statement.
