University of Petra holds graduation ceremony, announces new programs

Jordan Daily – The University of Petra held its 31st graduation ceremony , with around 600 students celebrating their achievements in the presence of President Prof. Rami Abdel Rahem, Sudanese Ambassador Hassan Sewar Al-Dahab, diplomats from the Libyan embassy, and local dignitaries.

In his speech, Abdel Rahem announced two new academic programs: a Bachelor’s in Dental Technology and a Master’s in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. He highlighted the university’s progress in international accreditation and research, noting over 20 global accreditations and a rise in annual faculty research output from 150 papers in 2022 to an expected 600 this year.

Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Eyad Al-Mallah emphasized the university’s ongoing support for students beyond graduation through its alumni office.

Graduates Rawand Shwaiki and Mahdi Al-Shawabkeh delivered emotional speeches, expressing gratitude to faculty, families, and the university for their support and guidance.

The ceremony also featured alumni success stories, including Dr. Lina Al-Ghusain, who returned to academia after a nine-year hiatus to earn a PhD with distinction, and architect Dalaal Abdullah, who transitioned from managing major construction projects to launching her own fashion brand aimed at women’s empowerment.
