Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh and his Iraqi counterpart, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, held talks in Baghdad on Monday, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Iraq.
The two premiers chaired an expanded meeting, attended by ministers and representatives from the private sector of both countries. They discussed strategies to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including industry, trade, energy, investment, transportation, agriculture, environment, health, and education. The discussions were described as fruitful and are expected to lead to increased bilateral cooperation and regional opportunities .
Al-Khasawneh and Al-Sudani expressed their strong condemnation of the burning of the Holy Qur’an, recognizing its offensive nature to Muslims. They condemned such acts of abuse, which incite hatred and racism, according to a statement.
They also reiterated their support for the Palestinian cause and affirmed the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of June 4, 1967.They also highlighted the significance of the Hashemite custodianship in safeguarding the Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
Al-Sudani praised the supportive stance of His Majesty King Abdullah II towards Iraq and acknowledged Jordan’s distinguished status and respect among the Iraqi people under His Majesty’s leadership, the statement noted.
