By : Business Editor

Jordan Daily – Jordan Airports Company (JAC) CEO Ahmed Al-Azzam on Tuesday announced plans to operate small aircraft flights from Amman City Airport to King Hussein Airport in Aqaba.

Al-Azzam said the airport targets low-cost carriers, currently offering direct flights to Egypt twice weekly and Kuwait twice daily, and stressed it serves as a supplementary airport to Queen Alia International Airport, not a competitor.

He added that the company owns around 9,000 dunums around Amman City Airport and 21,000 dunums near Queen Alia Airport. No public-private partnership is planned for the Amman City Airport at this stage.

Al-Azzam noted that the airport, which now handles medium-sized aircraft, has seen a total development cost of JD15 million , including upgrades to passenger halls, and that plans exist to expand facilities and runways in the near future.
