Jordan Daily – The Greater Amman Municipality has been honored with the United Nations Public Service Award (UNPSA) for 2024 in the category of climate change mitigation. The award recognizes the municipality’s outstanding efforts in improving living conditions in East Amman through green infrastructure enhancements and the Urban Lungs initiative.
In a statement seen by the Jordan Daily ,the winning project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Greater Amman Municipality, addresses the need for public green spaces in East Amman. It aims to enhance residents’ quality of life, promote biodiversity, and strengthen social cohesion through participatory planning and design.
The UNPSA is a prestigious international acknowledgment of excellence in public service, rewarding innovative achievements by public institutions that contribute to more effective and responsive governance worldwide.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday in Incheon, Republic of Korea, during the United Nations Public Service Forum 2024.
