Jordan Daily - Jordan is poised to expand its network with the European Union’s 27 countries, offering a significant opportunity to increase trade balance and attract foreign direct investment (FDI), according to Mohammad Qaryouti, a board member of the Jordan-Europe Business Association (JEBA) and the Jordan Economic Forum (JEF).
“This is a very important opportunity for Jordan,” Qaryouti told Jordan Daily on the sidelines of the EU-Jordan Business Forum, which took place in Amman on Tuesday.“This will increase and will go higher in the FDI in Jordan.”
The forum, which focused on Jordan’s modernization vision, highlighted the country’s potential in sectors such as digital technology and green energy. Qaryouti emphasized that “Jordan is an opportunity to invest in these sectors.”
With 70% of its population under 30 years old, Jordan is looking to the future. “We are going to the next generation, another 100 years as well,” Qaryouti said. “Jordan is a good market for investors.”
Despite its small market size ,Qaryout noted, Jordan boasts a robust financial sector and a network that spans the globe. The country’s banking assets exceed JD 66 billion , and its foreign reserves, which cover imports for more than eight months, exceed $18 billion.
Qaryouti , who is also investor and investment advisor, stressed the stability of the Jordanian dinar and the country’s low dollarization rate of 17%. “The investor will come to Jordan. He needs to make sure that his investment is there. The value of the investment is there,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of Jordan’s credit rating from international institutions like Moody’s, and Fitch. “This is important for the investor because he looks to the stability,” Qaryouti explained.
With an open market and a vast network of flights, especially with the EU, Jordan is well-positioned for trade, travel, and supply chain operations. Qaryouti concluded, “This is the future between this relation. And this is the importance of this forum that will build that bridge more and more.”
