JD -  The Lebanese government will convene an emergency session Monday morning to address the escalating situation following cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for the urgent meeting at the Presidential Palace to assess the ramifications of the overnight developments and to implement necessary measures.

Salam described the launch of projectiles from southern Lebanon into Israel as an irresponsible and suspicious act that jeopardizes Lebanon's security.

The Israeli military announced it had launched a wave of strikes against Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon in response to the rocket fire claimed by the group.

According to a military statement, Israeli forces initiated strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon following the barrage of projectiles launched towards Israel.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching rockets and drones into Israel, citing retaliation for the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
