Jordan Daily - Xiaomi has unveiled its Vision Gran Turismo concept car, marking its entry into the high-performance electric vehicle arena. The concept was revealed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, showcasing Xiaomi's design and engineering prowess.

The Vision Gran Turismo is part of the Gran Turismo initiative, conceptualized by Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the PlayStation game series. Xiaomi is the first Chinese company to participate in this project, presenting its unique vision for a GT car.

The Vision Gran Turismo project commemorates 15 years of the renowned racing game franchise. Yamauchi challenged various manufacturers to design their ideal version of a GT car, according to the initiative's official website.

Numerous established automakers have responded to Yamauchi's call, including Opel with a customized Corsa, Chevrolet with a Corvette variant, and Skoda and Genesis, all featured on the project's website.

While the Vision Gran Turismo remains a concept and may not reach commercial production in its current form, it builds on the success of Xiaomi's initial electric vehicle, the SU7, which garnered over 300,000 pre-orders within days of its debut.

The new Xiaomi car is built on the company's 900-volt silicon carbide platform, featuring a streamlined design to minimize air resistance. It also boasts scissor doors and a substantial carbon fiber rear wing.

The car's futuristic design is complemented by a high-performance engine generating nearly 1,900 horsepower, according to reports.

Xiaomi has focused on developing a system that optimizes airflow around the car's components to enhance stability during high-speed cornering and improve engine cooling efficiency. This innovation led Yamauchi to describe the car as a new gold standard in modern vehicles.

Innovation extends to the interior, with Xiaomi introducing a "Sofa Racer" concept that integrates all cabin elements to resemble a traditional living room setting.

The car incorporates seamless integration of modern control technologies, including touchscreens and voice commands, aligning with Xiaomi's smart home ecosystem.

The unveiling of the new concept follows Xiaomi's success in the electric vehicle sector. The company shipped over 400,000 vehicles last year, marked by the launch of the SU7.

This achievement reinforces Xiaomi's position as a leading electric car manufacturer.
