JD - The United States is beginning to understand the critical role that Russian oil and gas play in ensuring global economic stability, according to Russian Presidential Envoy Kirill Dmitriev.

Dmitriev's statement follows discussions with U.S. counterparts during a meeting of the U.S.-Russian working group on the economy in Florida.

Dmitriev, in remarks published on his Telegram channel, also stated the futility and destructive nature of sanctions against Russia are becoming clearer to many countries, especially the United States.

According to Dmitriev, under the guidance of President Vladimir Putin, meetings were held in the United States with the heads of the working group on economic cooperation between Russia and the United States.

The discussions covered promising projects that could contribute to rebuilding Russian-American relations, as well as the current situation of the crisis in global energy markets, Dmitriev added.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that the teams discussed a variety of topics and agreed to remain in contact.

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Donald Trump, and White House advisor Josh Greenbaum were also reportedly in attendance.

Dmitriev previously mentioned that nearly 20 million barrels per day of supplies – equivalent to approximately one-fifth of global production – have been confined within the Arabian Gulf since the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which occurred shortly after the launch of the joint Israeli-U.S. operation against Iran.
