Jordan Daily - Demand for Jordan national team shirts, flags and sportswear has surged following the country's historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup, providing a boost to the local apparel industry and related sectors, a senior industry representative said on Wednesday.
Ihab Qadri, representative of the leather and garments industries sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), said the increased demand had extended beyond garment manufacturers to benefit a broader economic network that includes fabric producers, printing and embroidery businesses, as well as small and medium-sized factories.
"The growing demand for national team shirts has contributed to increased economic activity across the sector," Qadri said in remarks to Al Mamlaka TV. "This momentum has positively impacted multiple industries linked to apparel manufacturing."

Qadri added sporting achievements can generate sustained demand that supports domestic production and strengthens the concept of a sports economy, noting that the effects are felt across both manufacturing and service sectors.
He noted that the production model for national team shirts mirrors arrangements used by international sports federations and major brands, whereby a global company is contracted to design and manufacture the official team kit.
However, shirts widely available in Jordan's local markets are produced domestically, Qadri said, adding that they reflect national identity and fan support while helping to strengthen local industry and stimulate associated economic activity.
