Jordan Daily - U.S. Ambassador to Jordan James Holtsnider visited Jordan Bromine Company’s production facilities in the Ghor Al-Safi area of southern Jordan’s Jordan Valley, underscoring the significance of the company as the largest U.S. investment in the kingdom and one of the world's leading bromine producers.
During the visit, Holtsnider toured the company's plants and received a briefing on operations from Jordan Bromine Company General Manager Samer Asfour. The company’s production capacity currently meets around one-third of global demand for bromine, a key industrial chemical used in a range of strategic sectors.
Jordan Bromine Company, established through a strategic partnership between Arab Potash Company and Albemarle Corporation, is the world's second-largest exporter of bromine and bromine derivatives.
The company has significantly expanded its production capacity in recent years to meet growing global demand for bromine-based products, which are used in oil and gas operations, advanced flame retardants, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and agricultural applications.
Increased production and operational efficiencies have contributed to record profits over the past five years, strengthening the company’s position among the world’s leading bromine exporters and enhancing its contribution to Jordan’s economy and state revenues.
Jordan Bromine Company has also emerged as a successful example of knowledge transfer and workforce localization. The company is now managed entirely by Jordanian professionals, who have overseen continued growth while maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and safety.
The company exports its products to approximately 36 countries across multiple continents, helping reinforce the competitiveness of Jordanian bromine products in international markets.
