Jordan Daily - Mobile wallet provider uwallet has become the first payment service provider (PSP) in the kingdom to launch the eFAWATEERcom Direct Pay service, a move aimed at expanding access to digital payments and strengthening integration between mobile wallets and national digital platforms.
Tawfiq Shoubash, the Commercial Director at uwallet, said the new service allows uwallet customers to pay bills and access services through the Sanad application, eFAWATEERcom portals and participating merchant checkout pages using only their mobile wallet number and a one-time password (OTP), eliminating the need to open the wallet application during the payment process.
The launch marks another step in Jordan's broader digital transformation efforts by enabling mobile wallet users to access government and commercial payment services through a more streamlined experience.
"Being the first PSP to launch this feature reinforces uwallet's position at the forefront of Jordan's digital transformation", Shoubash said in an interview with Jordan Daily.
"The integration with the Sanad app is a massive milestone for us and the local market, as it brings core e- government services and seamless payments into the palm of every citizen's hand", he added.
Shoubash also stated that the Direct Pay service is designed to reduce payment friction by allowing customers to complete transactions directly on merchant websites and government platforms without manually entering biller information through the uwallet application.
He said the simplified payment process is expected to improve transaction completion rates for merchants, government entities and billers while increasing customer engagement with the wallet.
"For merchants, government platforms and billers, this means significantly higher conversion rates and faster collections", Shoubash said. "For uwallet, it drives user stickiness, increases daily active usage and solidifies our wallet as the primary financial tool for everyday consumer needs".
The launch forms part of uwallet's 2026 commercial strategy, which focuses on expanding its digital ecosystem through partnerships and broader service integration. Planned initiatives include a upgraded business application, white-label wallet solutions and additional technical integrations with public and private sector partners.
Shoubash noted the strategy also complements its existing partnerships with the Jordan Post and Ministry of Youth, as well as its role in supporting government and NGOs payment and disbursement programmes.
Looking ahead, uwallet plans to deepen merchant integrations and introduce additional financial services aimed at expanding the use of mobile wallets in everyday transactions.
"We are moving beyond everyday financial services; we are building an interconnected financial hub," Shoubash said.
