GJU , Specialty Hospital forge partnership to train nursing students

Jordan Daily – The German Jordanian University (GJU) and the Specialty Hospital have entered into a collaborative agreement aimed at providing training opportunities for students enrolled in the recently established College of Nursing at the university. The partnership will commence with the first group of students in the upcoming academic year 2023/2024.

Signed by GJU’s President, Prof. Ala’a El-Din Al-Halhouli, and the Specialty Hospital’s General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, the agreement outlines various aspects of cooperation. It encompasses practical training and educational support for nursing students, encouraging their involvement in academic, research, and scientific projects, which will subsequently be presented to relevant parties.

Among the key features of the agreement is the coordination between both parties to bolster medical, clinical, and health research. It also aims to foster joint research efforts, contribute to the advancement of medical and health services, and collaborate with GJU’s Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Leadership to cultivate an innovation culture, startups, and technology development, according to a statement.

Dr. Al-Halhouli emphasized that this partnership serves as an exemplary model of collaboration between the public and private sectors. He believes it to be a strategic alliance that offers students invaluable practical experiences within a distinguished educational environment found in high-performance medical institutions, with the Specialty Hospital being a prominent representative in this regard. The hands-on training received by the students, not only within the hospital but also in major German hospitals, will undoubtedly enhance their skills, ultimately contributing to the growth of Jordan’s nursing sector.

Dr. Al-Hammouri highlighted the significance of cooperating with the esteemed German Jordanian University, known for its exceptional students, graduates, and employees. The cooperation is expected to yield numerous benefits that will serve the entire country, especially considering that the Specialty Hospital is an accredited teaching hospital, recognized by the Jordan Medical Council and the Arab Board of Health Specializations since 2006.

He added that the hospital encompasses a specialized training center, offering essential life support programs and Advanced trauma life support (ATLS), along with Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) , all accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Surgeons(ACS).
