Jordan Daily – The Italian Navy’s historic training ship Amerigo Vespucci arrived in Aqaba on Thursday, marking its first visit to Jordan as part of a global tour. The ship’s stop is the 34th on its journey before returning to the Mediterranean.
Officials including Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Deputy Chairman Hamza Hajj Hassan and Italian Ambassador Luciano Pezzotti attended the reception. Hajj Hassan highlighted the ship’s visit as a boost to Jordan-Italy relations and tourism.
Pezzotti described the Amerigo Vespucci as a symbol of Italy’s maritime heritage.
The ship will be open to the public on Friday.
