Jordan drawn with Argentina, Austria and Algeria in World Cup debut

Jordan Daily – Jordan was placed in Group J of the 2026 World Cup after Friday’s draw at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The tournament, hosted for the first time by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be the largest in World Cup history with 48 teams instead of the traditional 32.

Jordan’s group features Argentina, Austria and Algeria.

This year’s World Cup will set a regional record with seven Arab teams qualified and a possible eighth if Iraq advance through the play-offs.

His Majesty King Abdullah voiced his pride on X, saying: “Proud to see Jordan present at the World Cup 2026 draw today. Wishing our national team the best of luck.”
