Jordan Daily – Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued a tender on Tuesday to buy 100,000 tonnes of wheat to replenish its strategic reserves.
The tender document, seen by Jordan Daily, said the wheat should be free of live insects and mold, and should be fumigated at the port of loading and arrival to ensure it is suitable for human consumption.
The document also said the contractor would be responsible for any costs and damages resulting from insect infestation, and would have to provide a certificate of fumigation from the country of origin.
The deadline for bids is Jan. 4, 2024, and bidders have to pay JD 650 to obtain a copy of the tender, the ministry said on its website.
Jordan, an importer of wheat, regularly tenders to buy wheat from international suppliers to meet its domestic needs.
