Jordan Daily – Captain Haitham Misto, head of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), spoke on Friday about a “gradual return” of incoming and outgoing flights to Jordan’s airspace, after a decline due to heightened tensions in the region.
Misto said that air traffic in Jordan “has not fully returned to pre-tension levels,” but noted a “gradual recovery” after Iran fired around 200 rockets at Israel, which has been conducting ongoing attacks on Lebanon.
As a result, several airlines temporarily suspended their flights to the region, including Jordan. However, Misto confirmed that these carriers “have begun resuming their flights to Amman.”
He reported a “15-20% decrease” in overflying, incoming, and outgoing traffic through Jordanian airspace.
The CARC recorded 385 overflights or incoming and outgoing flights through Jordan on Thursday, according to Misto, who added that the numbers are “fluctuating” but trending towards “a return to normal levels.”
Misto expects most airlines to resume their flights to and from Amman by “next week.”
However, he urged travelers to check their flight schedules, as some airlines have adjusted their timetables to avoid congestion at the airport.
