Jordan Daily – Journalist Fares Habashneh was hospitalized late Monday after reportedly being assaulted by four masked individuals outside his residence, according to colleagues and media sources.
Photos circulating on social media showed Habashneh in a hospital bed with visible injuries and traces of blood. He is currently receiving treatment at one of Amman’s hospitals.
Habashneh said the assailants, whose identities remain unknown, attacked him outside his home. The motive behind the assault is still unclear.
The attack sparked widespread condemnation among Jordanian journalists, many of whom described it as “brutal” in posts shared across various social media platforms and press-focused WhatsApp groups.
Habashneh was released Monday on bail after Jordan Press Association President Tareq Momani intervened following a public prosecutor’s decision to detain him in connection with an ongoing legal case.
