King listens to Parliament’s response to Speech from the Throne

Jordan Daily- Parliament on Wednesday presented its response to the Speech from the Throne, which was delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah on 26 October to inaugurate 20th Parliament’s second ordinary session.

With His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein in attendance, the Senate’s response, delivered by Senate President Faisal Fayez at Raghadan Palace, affirmed that the Senate draws inspiration from the values, directives, and profound themes expressed by His Majesty in the Speech from the Throne, which emphasise the King’s vision for reform and development, according to a Royal Court statement.

Fayez said the Speech from the Throne is a message of strength, confidence, reassurance, and pride in Jordanians, who, over generations, have developed the competence, skill, and ability to overcome any challenge, resulting in a stronger and more resilient nation.

He added that the Senate is committed to modernisation and reform through its specialised committees.

Speaking about Gaza, Fayez highlighted the impact of His Majesty’s continuous efforts on the world stage to shape international consensus, which has been a significant factor in pressure to end the war on Gaza and bring relief to the Palestinian people.

He reiterated that Jordan will remain as steadfast as the King in his rejection of ongoing Israeli violations in the occupied West Bank, and commitment to the Hashemite Custodianship of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution.

In the House of Representatives’ response, House Speaker Mazen Qadi affirmed that Jordan has always been, and will remain, great because of the loyalty of Jordanians to their homeland, leader, and commitment to putting Jordan first.

Qadi said His Majesty’s directives constitute a roadmap to a future that all Jordanians can be proud of, and in which all will play a part in building, stressing that despite the many challenges in the region, Jordan represents an oasis of stability.

He affirmed that the House of Representatives will fulfil its responsibilities in legislation and oversight, and will work in cooperation with the government, in accordance with the Constitution, to ensure effective implementation of His Majesty’s vision to bolster the national economy.

The House speaker said the Economic Modernisation Vision’s achievements to date are only the beginning of a long-term project requiring continued diligence and action.

Citing His Majesty’s statement “nothing but the homeland” in his Speech from the Throne, Qadi affirmed that it is the true measure of action, and the foundation of all parliamentary work, where there is no place for interests or priorities above those of Jordan’s.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hashim and Prince Rashid , HH Prince Mired, chief royal councillor at the Royal Hashemite Court, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and senior officials attended Parliament’s response to the Speech from the Throne.
