Jordan Daily – Ministry of Environment, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has concluded a Green Skills Training Program aimed at supporting green jobs for refugees and host communities.
The programme, implemented with Good Neighbours Jordan, Al Hussein Technical University and the German Energy Academy in Jordan, trained 1,597 participants, including 71% youth, 60% women and 52% refugees. Trainees received theoretical and practical skills in areas such as solar energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, climate-smart agriculture, greywater recycling and environmental awareness.
Environment Minister Aiman Soleiman said green skills development is a national priority as Jordan advances its green transition, linking environmental sustainability with job creation and inclusive growth.

Ambassador of Korea to Jordan Kim Pil-woo said the project delivered training in high-demand sectors, adding that education and training remain a key pillar of Korea’s support for Jordan’s socio-economic development. He reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to Jordan’s vision of a green and smart economy.
GGGI Executive Director Sang-Hyup Kim said green growth depends on people and jobs, noting that the transition must create employment and improve livelihoods. He said the programme showed how investing in skills can turn climate goals into economic opportunity.
The closing event featured presentations from training partners and graduates, who shared how the programme improved their employability and supported green entrepreneurship.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to build a skilled workforce to support renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and water management in Jordan.
