Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Saturday opened a series of specialised dialogue sessions on the Amra City project, bringing together more than 150 experts in engineering, urban planning, environment, transport, energy, water, economics and investment, alongside representatives of professional associations.

Hassan said the government is committed to a partnership-based approach with national experts to shape a long-term vision for Amra City, describing it as a comprehensive urban development project with economic, social and investment dimensions. He added that consultations would continue as the project advances through its various stages.

The sessions are part of a government effort to involve Jordanian expertise in developing the project’s vision and identifying priority investments, particularly in the first phase. This phase includes production-oriented investments such as an international exhibitions and conferences centre, a fully integrated sports city featuring an international football stadium, an Olympic city, and Olympic-standard indoor sports halls. Construction is set to begin this year and run until 2029.

Investment Minister Tareq Abu Ghazaleh said the project represents a qualitative shift in Jordan’s urban and investment planning, aligned with the country’s Economic Modernisation Vision. He stressed that Amra City is not a replacement for Amman nor an administrative capital, but an integrated development and investment platform aimed at boosting competitiveness, easing pressure on existing cities and creating sustainable jobs.

Five specialised sessions were held at the Prime Ministry, covering urban development, economic impact and future technologies, water, energy and environment, culture and education, and sports, health and mobility.

The first phase of Amra City was launched in November, with infrastructure works already under way. The project is planned to be developed over 25 years as a model future city.
