Jordan Daily – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Wednesday inaugurated the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra, which had been closed since 2012, following an accelerated renovation and upgrade completed over the past three months.
The hotel adds new tourism capacity to the Petra region and includes 143 accommodation units, comprising 62 hotel rooms and 81 chalets. It is expected to create around 200 jobs, with priority given to residents of the local community, according to a statement.

The property is owned by the Social Security Investment Fund. Hassan had inspected the hotel in October and instructed that renovation works be expedited to allow it to reopen at the start of this year.
During his visit to Petra, the prime minister also toured the Hayat Zaman Hotel and Resort, praising it as a successful example of investment partnership with the local community. The resort provides around 100 jobs for local residents and contributes to enhancing the tourism experience while highlighting Petra’s historical and cultural heritage, the statement noted.
