Jordan Daily – Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) handled a record 1.08 million passengers in August, up 12.2% from a year earlier, operator Airport International Group said on Monday. The figure marks the highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history.

Aircraft movements rose 11.5% to 8,380, while cargo dipped 0.1% to 6,683 tonnes.

From January to August, QAIA welcomed 6.47 million passengers, a 6.6% increase year-on-year. Aircraft movements reached 52,303, up 3.2%, while cargo volumes fell 13% to 45,265 tonnes.

CEO Nicolas Deviller said the surge was driven by the return of expatriates over the summer, reinforcing QAIA’s role as Jordan’s main gateway.
