Slovakia’s largest ski resort opens its winter season

Jordan Daily – Slovakia is a true winter sports nation – nearly one in five Slovaks ski regularly, and visitors can choose from more than 80 ski resorts across the country. From beginners to professional skiers, Slovakia offers a diverse range of winter experiences for all skill levels. Last weekend the country’s largest and most renowned ski resort Jasná in the Low Tatras officially opens the new winter season.
“Winter tourism is of exceptional importance for Slovakia’s travel industry. Our modern ski resorts attract thousands of domestic and international visitors every year,” said Matej Fekete, CEO of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, the national tourism promotion organisation. “With more than 500 kilometers of groomed ski slopes nationwide, Slovakia provides outstanding conditions for an unforgettable winter holiday. Beyond skiing, visitors can enjoy a wide range of services – from wellness and gastronomy to family attractions – making our country an appealing destination for travelers of all ages,” said CEO of SLOVAKIA TRAVEL.
Liptov – the heart of Slovakia’s winter tourism
The Liptov region ranks among Slovakia’s premier winter destinations. According to official statistics, Demänovská Valley, the main gateway to Jasná, was among the Top 5 most-visited localities in Slovakia last year. Remarkably, it ranked third in overnight stays by international guests, recording nearly 240 000 stays.
“We are fully prepared for the season and believe it will bring our visitors joy and unforgettable experiences,” said Ján Blcháč, Chairman of the Board of the Liptov Regional Tourism Organisation. “Liptov and the High Tatras provide the greatest skiing opportunities in Slovakia. I wish everyone a healthy, safe, and pleasant winter season on our slopes.”

Ideal start to the season
According to Igor Rattaj, Chairman of the Board of TMR, a.s., the opening of the season in Jasná is supported by excellent weather and snow conditions.
“Nature has truly been kind to us this year – both with the weather and with fresh snow. For that we are grateful. I wish all our guests a season as successful and beautiful as its opening, free of injuries, and filled with unforgettable moments on the slopes.”
Jasná – 50 kilometers of winter adventures
Stretching across both the north and south sides of Mount Chopok, Jasná offers more than 50 kilometers of ski slopes of varying difficulty, along with freeride zones and cross-country trails. The resort is equipped with five gondola lifts, eight chairlifts, six drag lifts, and 39 ski runs, catering to families, beginners, and advanced skiers alike.
Visitors benefit from comprehensive services, including ski schools, equipment rental and service centers, as well as convenient free ski bus connections from resorts across the Liptov region.
Jasná proudly features several national and regional “firsts.” It is Slovakia’s largest ski resort and home to Central Europe’s longest illuminated night-skiing slope outside the Alps. One of its standout experiences is the unique Fresh Track program, which allows skiers to enjoy perfectly groomed slopes before the lifts officially open, followed by an exclusive breakfast at the Rotunda restaurant on top of Chopok.

Olympic spirit and new attractions
This season, Jasná will also embrace the excitement surrounding the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan. As announced by Jiří Trumpeš, Resort Director, the mid-February period will see the resort come alive with an Olympic theme:
“For four days, visitors will enjoy extensive sports broadcasts and live activities. Throughout February, a large outdoor screen will show Olympic winter sports events directly at the resort.”
Guests can also look forward to numerous new attractions this winter. These include a Magic Forest experience for families and children, a new ski cross and boardercross track developed in cooperation with the Slovak Ski Association, a new children’s zone in Krupová, and a full calendar of international-class events.
“This will once again be a world-class winter season filled with events and exciting innovations,” added Trumpeš.
