Jordan Daily - Embassy of India in Amman hosted an Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) alumni Eid reception in Amman on March 30, 2026, highlighting growing cooperation between India and Jordan.

The ITEC programme, launched in 1964 by Ministry of External Affairs, is a flagship capacity-building initiative that has trained over 200,000 professionals from more than 160 countries. In Jordan, the programme operates through multiple channels, including the establishment of an IT centre of excellence at Al Hussein Technical University, as well as fully funded training courses and executive programmes in India.

Over the past three years, 144 Jordanian professionals have received training in fields such as banking, information technology, education management, pharmaceuticals and renewable energy.

India’s Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, said bilateral ties were strengthened following Narendra Modi’s visit to Jordan in December 2025. He noted that both sides have emphasized people-to-people ties, education cooperation and youth engagement as key pillars of the relationship.

Chauhan added that Modi and King Abdullah II have held discussions aimed at advancing diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts and praised Jordan’s role in facilitating the safe return of Indian nationals.

The event was attended by parliamentarians, diplomats, academics, business representatives and members of the Indian diaspora.
