Jordan Daily - Mitsubishi Power's Middle East executive Khalid Salem has been ranked No. 10 in the 2026 Utilities Middle East Power 50, recognising his leadership in advancing power generation, localisation and lower-carbon energy projects across the region.

Salem, who has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the energy and utilities sectors, leads Mitsubishi Power's regional operations and strategy. Since joining the company in 2018, he has overseen the expansion of its presence across the Middle East, aligning Japanese engineering expertise with regional energy priorities, national development agendas and localisation goals.

Under his leadership, Mitsubishi Power has secured and delivered major projects across the Gulf, including EWEC's Fujairah F3 power plant and SEWA's Layyah combined-cycle power plant in the United Arab Emirates. In Saudi Arabia, the company has participated in the Rumah-1 and Al-Nairyah-1 independent power projects and the Amiral cogeneration project in Jubail, where it is supplying a hydrogen-ready M501JAC gas turbine for a new 475-megawatt facility. The project marks the first deployment of an M501JAC gas turbine assembled at Mitsubishi Power's Dammam facility.

Salem has also helped advance hydrogen initiatives in the region, including Mitsubishi Power's collaboration with Egypt's Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemical Company (ANRPC) to deploy 100% hydrogen-fired industrial boiler technology, supporting industrial decarbonisation.

Beyond project delivery, Salem is a regular speaker at industry events including ADIPEC, the World Future Energy Summit, the World Utilities Congress and the World Petroleum Congress, where he discusses energy security, decarbonisation and the future of power generation.

"Honoured to have been included in this year's Utilities Middle East Power 50!" Salem said in a post seen by Jordan Daily.

“This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and expertise of the incredible Mitsubishi Power team across the Middle East. Their commitment to delivering for our customers and partners every single day is what makes achievements like this possible.”
