Jordan Daily -His Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS), stressed the need to find a comprehensive cultural and civilized project that would restore Arab nation’s human and civilized role as source of intellectual enlightenment, at home and abroad, which lasted for five successive centuries in the medieval ages.
Chairing a lecture entitled: “Mary in Christianity and Islam,” organized by the RIIFS, with the participation of a number of researchers and Christian and Islamic clergymen from Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, Prince El Hassan stressed the need to integrate Mary’s religious and spiritual depth in enriching dialogue to reach the concept of human dignity.
For her part, the RIIFS Director, Dr. Renee Hattar, said “Mary is an example of boundless love that requires strength and courage to reach the firm faith,” stressing the need to kick off a “real” human dialogue.
The lecture, which was moderated by Professor of Comparative Religions at Al al-Bayt University and RIIFS Academic Adviser, Dr. Amer Al-Hafi, highlighted the RIIFS’s belief in the importance of promoting dialogue among different faiths’ followers, shedding light on commonalities and building a society that believes in tolerance and pluralism, according to a RIIFS statement.
