
Jordan Daily – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Saturday with US special envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack to discuss recent developments in Syria, including a newly brokered ceasefire in the southern province of Sweida.
The two officials reviewed efforts to uphold the ceasefire, which took effect early Friday, emphasizing its importance in safeguarding Syria’s unity, protecting civilians, and preserving state sovereignty and the rule of law.
Safadi welcomed the U.S. role in facilitating the truce, describing it as vital to ensuring the security and stability of Syria and its people. He reaffirmed Jordan’s ongoing partnership and cooperation with the United States in efforts aimed at ending the conflict.
He reiterated Jordan’s firm support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, stressing that stability in Syria is key to broader regional security.
Safadi also strongly condemned repeated Israeli strikes on Syrian territory, calling them a blatant violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty that endangers the country’s security and stability.
