IEC reports 618 electoral campaign violations across Kingdom

Jordan Daily – The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has reported 618 electoral campaign violations across various constituencies in the kingdom.

The types of violations identified by the IEC were diverse, including the illegal use of social media for campaigning, the placement of banners and posters on poles and walls, and the unauthorized use of the IEC’s logo.

Additionally, the violations included advertisements on electronic news websites, the use of telecommunications networks to send promotional text messages, and instances of attempting to influence voters with money and the establishment of electoral offices in different constituencies.

The IEC has taken measures to address these violations, including removing illegal materials from public spaces, contacting those who posted violations on social media to have them removed, and shutting down non-compliant electoral offices. Furthermore, individuals suspected of attempting to influence voters with money have been referred to the judiciary.

The IEC has referred two cases to the public prosecutor on charges of attempting to influence voters with money in the Ajloun electoral district. A decision has been made in one case, while the other remains under judicial review.
