JBA, Saudi Ambassador discuss boosting trade and investment ties

Jordan Daily – The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) said on Wednesday it held talks with Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Jordan, Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud, on expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

JBA Chairman Ayman Al- Alawneh said Jordan- Saudi relations are deeply rooted and marked by strong cooperation, calling for increased Saudi investment in Jordan in sectors including technology, the digital economy, tourism, agriculture and industry. He also urged support for Jordanian investments in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the Hajj and Umrah services sector.

Alawneh stressed the importance of maintaining year-round validity of visas for Jordanian truck drivers to facilitate cargo movement and boost trade, as well as continuing the work of joint technical committees and updating investment regulations to ease business initiatives.

Prince Mansour reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for joint investment projects and efforts to increase trade and investment flows between the public and private sectors in both countries. He highlighted the importance of developing joint projects, tourism programmes and infrastructure, and said the kingdom is keen to provide a favourable environment for Jordanian investors, especially in key sectors.

Association board members also proposed enhancing joint tourism programmes between Aqaba and Saudi Arabia’s AlUla, and exploring the creation of a joint border economic zone.

Bilateral trade between Jordan and Saudi Arabia reached about JD 3.52 billion in 2024, including Jordanian exports of JD1.05 billion, the association said.

The meeting was attended by association board members, including Vice President Osama Imseeh , Bashar Al-Zoubi, Hassan Al-Tabbaa, Salah Al-Din Al-Bitar, Rami Al-Saheb, Bahjat Hamdan, and Director General Tariq Hijazi.
