Jordan Daily – Jordan’s exports to the European Union experienced significant growth, recording a remarkable 23.4% increase during the first five months of this year.
According to data released by the Department of Statistics, the value of Jordan’s exports to the EU reached approximately 136 million dinars, compared to about 110 million dinars for the same period last year.
The foreign trade data further revealed that Jordan’s imports from the European Union also saw a moderate rise of 3.6% in the first five months of 2023. The value of imports reached JD 1.182 billion , compared to JD1.140 billion recorded during the same period in the previous year.
The overall trade volume between Jordan and the Eurozone until the end of May this year amounted to approximately 1.318 billion dinars, demonstrating an increase from the JD1.250 billion recorded for the same period last year.
Despite the surge in exports, Jordan faced a trade balance deficit with European Union countries during the same five-month period, amounting to about 1.046 billion dinars, slightly higher than the deficit of JD1.030 billion reported for the same period in the previous year.
The Netherlands emerged as the leading destination for Jordanian exports to EU countries in the first five months of 2023, with exports amounting to nearly JD 38 million . On the other hand, Germany topped the list of countries from which Jordan imports, with the Kingdom’s imports valued at approximately 253 million dinars.
