Jordan Daily – A Jordanian field hospital in the southern Gaza Strip has been treating thousands of patients wounded by Israeli air strikes since it has opened earlier this month, its staff said on Tuesday.
The hospital, located in Khan Yunis, has performed more than 1,500 surgeries, including complex operations on the brain, nerves, face and blood vessels, and received 38 premature babies, according to a statement from the hospital.
One of the patients was a woman who suffered a skull fracture and brain damage from shrapnel in her head. She underwent surgery to repair the bone, stop the bleeding and remove the shrapnel, and was in good health, the statement said.
The hospital, which is run by the Jordanian army, said it is providing its services despite the difficult conditions in the besieged Strip, where medical facilities are overstretched and lack supplies.
