Jordan Daily – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) to develop a 25-megawatt wind power project in the Batn Al Ghoul area of Ma’an governorate.

Energy Minister Saleh  Al-Kharabsheh and Masdar’s Director of Strategic and Special Projects at Masdar is Ali Abdullah Al-Shammari signed the agreement, which provides for the installation of five wind turbines with a total capacity of 25 MW. The project will be fully financed by the United Arab Emirates government.

Under the deal, Masdar will provide technical supervision, oversee implementation, manage shipping and logistics, and submit progress reports throughout the project’s phases, the Ministry said in a statement seen by Jordan Daily.

Jordan’s Samra Electric Power Co will contract an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor selected by Masdar, and will be responsible for operating and maintaining the plant, either directly or through service contracts.

The Energy Ministry will allocate the required land and secure all necessary permits and approvals.

The project forms part of Jordan’s efforts to diversify energy sources and increase the share of renewables in its energy mix, amid rising electricity demand, and underscores growing Jordanian-Emirati cooperation in clean energy and sustainable development.
