
Jordan Daily – The Jordanian Seismological Observatory said on Wednesday that no earthquake had been recorded in Jordan during the early hours of the day.
Ghassan Sweidan, the head of the observatory, told local media that a tremor detected at 1:51 a.m. local time originated in the Mediterranean Sea and registered a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale.
Earlier, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 6.3 earthquake off the coast of the Greek island of Crete at a depth of 83 kilometers.
Sweidan confirmed that the earthquake had no impact inside Jordan and stressed that the observatory continues to monitor seismic activity in the region closely.
