Jordan Daily – In an evening described as one of the most prominent cultural and diplomatic bridges between the Arab world and Bulgaria, the capital city of Sofia hosted a high-level international event organized under the auspices of the Kingdom of Morocco and Her Excellency, the Ambassador of Morocco to Bulgaria, Ms. Zakia El Midawi, to present the Bulgarian edition of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Auditorium 243 at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” was filled with distinguished ambassadors, diplomats, and prominent academic figures from the country’s two leading universities. A high-level delegation from Southwest University “Neofit Rilski,” led by Rector Prof. Nikolay Marinov and Dean of the Faculty of Law and History Prof. Gabriela Belova, attended alongside a distinguished group of faculty and students from Sofia University, led by Vice-Rector Prof. Danova, filling the hall to capacity.

The ceremony featured the presentation of the Bulgarian edition of the Moroccan Constitution, accompanied by an in-depth introductory study prepared by Prof. Georgi Bliznashki, one of Bulgaria’s leading constitutional experts. In his speech, Prof. Bliznashki praised the pioneering role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in upholding constitutional values and promoting education, and extended special recognition to Ms. El Midawi for her tireless efforts in strengthening Moroccan-Bulgarian relations.

Among the distinguished guests was the largest university in Libya, the University of Benghazi, represented by Dr. Izzudin Busnaina, Associate Professor of International Marketing and Member of the International Cooperation Committee. The visit aims to strengthen academic collaboration between the University of Benghazi and Sofia University, as well as the University of National and World Economy.

The event was organized by the Center for Constitutionalism and Democracy at Gallup International Balkan, in partnership with the Department of Arabic and Semitic Studies at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies at Sofia University, reflecting the growing interest in Arabic studies and Morocco’s cultural and constitutional presence in Eastern Europe.

The evening also featured broad Arab representation, including:
• Ms. Zakia El Midawi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
• Ms. Lina Omar, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq.
• Several other Arab ambassadors.

This gathering transformed Sofia into a vibrant platform for dialogue between Bulgaria and the Arab world, with the Moroccan Constitution serving as a central point for academic and diplomatic convergence, and as one of the most important bridges for mutual understanding in the region.
