Jordan Daily – Two of five trucks that entered the Gaza Strip on Monday were loaded with burial shrouds donated by an Arab state through the United Nations, rather than food, the head of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said.
“This is not humanitarian aid; it is preparation for mass death. Gaza is being buried, not fed,” Ramy Abdu, president of the Geneva-based rights organization, said in a statement seen by Jordan Daily.
Abdu criticized what he described as the weak response of Arab states, noting that a recent joint statement by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada condemning Israeli actions was “stronger and clearer” than the final communiqué issued by the Arab League.
He said the statement from the Western leaders revealed “the depth of Arab failure, betrayal, and complicity.”
Abdu added that international sentiment appeared to be shifting, pointing to a joint statement by 25 mostly Western countries rejecting a new Israeli-U.S. proposal that links humanitarian aid to political and military conditions. The statement reaffirmed opposition to aid distribution models that serve strategic objectives rather than humanitarian needs.
He also said that European Union foreign ministers are expected to meet Tuesday to discuss the possible suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
The Euro-Med Monitor, in coordination with partners, has recently launched a broad advocacy campaign calling for urgent food delivery to Gaza and an end to the ongoing genocidal campaign, rejecting what it described as Israeli-imposed aid conditions.
