Jordan Daily – In a bid to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between Jordan and the Philippines, a business matching event will be held on February 11, jointly organized by the Philippine Embassy in Jordan and the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC).

The event will feature 13 companies from the Philippines’ food and personal care sectors, who will meet with their Jordanian counterparts to explore opportunities for joint ventures and business expansion in both countries. The activity is part of the larger Philippine Business, Trade, and Investment Mission to Jordan.

The mission, scheduled for February 10-11, underscores the Philippines’ commitment to fostering stronger business partnerships with Jordan, said Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo C. Santos during a press briefing at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Amman on Saturday.

“This mission underscores the Philippines’ commitment to deepening the economic ties between our two countries. Through this mission, we aim to explore and expand avenues for trade, investment, and business-to-business engagements that will be mutually beneficial for both our nations,” Ambassador Santos said.

The delegation, comprising 13 companies and key officials from the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Dubai, will focus on building long-term partnerships with Jordanian counterparts in sectors such as food, agriculture, manufacturing, and creative industries.

“The Philippines, as one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, seeks to expand its global presence by forging strategic partnerships,” Santos added, citing Jordan’s security, strategic location and investment-friendly environment.

Trade Commissioner of the Philippines Trade and Investment Center-Dubai, Vichael Roaring emphasized the importance of Jordan as a trade partner, highlighting the country’s growing demand for premium food, agricultural products, and consumer goods.

“Jordan serves as a natural gateway for Philippine businesses looking to expand in the region,” Roaring said, noting that the B2B Matching Session hosted by the Amman Chamber of Commerce will serve as a platform for trade discussions and deal-making.

The mission is spearheaded by the DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau in collaboration with the DA and the Philippine Trade and Investment Center. Philippine exporters specializing in food, beverage, and personal care products, where the country has established a strong international reputation, are part of the delegation.

“The Philippines is open for business. As one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia, it offers a competitive business environment, a skilled workforce, and high-quality export products that meet global standards, including halal-certified and sustainably produced goods,” Roaring said.

“This mission is more than just trade- it is about building long-term partnerships and expanding business opportunities in Jordan and beyond,” Roaring added, expressing optimism that discussions would lead to concrete trade deals.

Second Secretary and Consul Angeli Payumo, speaking during the press conference, said that at least 39 Jordanian companies would be participating in the business matching meetings. “Like we have cited earlier, we are expecting 13 Philippine companies from the food and personal care sectors,” she said.

“It’s a very exciting opportunity in terms of increasing the volume of trade. We are hoping that these B2B meetings will serve as a platform for elevating our trade levels, not just in terms of importing and exporting, but also exploring other avenues for investment and trade,” Payumo added.
