Abdallat highlights Crown Prince’s vision for empowering youth in human rights and peace advocacy

Jordan Daily – Director of the Prime Ministry’s Human Rights Department Khalil Abdallat on Saturday stressed the importance of HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s vision in endorsing the Global Coalition on Youth, Peace and Security (GCYPS),  which empowers youth to play an active role in promoting social harmony.

Crown Prince Hussein chaired a meeting of the UN Security Council that resulted in the adoption of Resolution 2250, a key development highlighting the importance of engaging with and supporting youth in various fields, Abdallat said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The remarks came during a meeting with a group of young people and university students, organised in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Lawyers Without Borders, aimed to boost youth engagement, provide them with insights of the Universal Periodic Review of human rights, and encourage their contributions in advancing human rights systems at local, regional and international levels.

The highest political commitment within Jordan, represented by His Majesty King Abdullah, is dedicated to strengthening human rights alongside comprehensive reform and modernisation efforts, he said.

He said that this commitment has led to the establishment of political and economic reform frameworks, administrative reforms and modernisation systems, as well as a review of the legislative implications of the Cybercrimes Law and amendments to the Right of Access to Information Law to improve Jordan’s human rights landscape.
