Jordan Daily – Jordan’s Senate President, Faisal Al-Fayez, expressed confidence that the country’s scheduled elections would proceed as planned, with no delays anticipated.
During a lecture titled “Jordan: Major challenges and future prospects” at the Hussein Cultural Center, yesterday Al-Fayez affirmed the King’s determination to implement the approved Jordanian reform agenda, aiming to enhance political, parliamentary, and partisan life ,emphasizing the significance of conducting elections based on authentic party affiliations and allocating seats to parties in the forthcoming House of Representatives.
Discussing the challenges confronting Jordan, Al-Fayez cited the nation’s mounting debt, declining assistance and grants, escalating unemployment and poverty rates, and the reverberations stemming from the political circumstances in Iraq and the Arab Spring uprisings of 2011.
Furthermore, he highlighted the disruptions caused by the interruption of Egyptian gas and Iraqi oil supplies, ongoing civil wars in various Arab countries, the prevalence of terrorism and extremism, the menace of drug addiction, the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ramifications of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on food security and energy prices.
Al-Fayez underscored that Jordan, thanks to the astuteness and political acumen of King Abdullah, the awareness of its people, and the diligent efforts of its armed forces and security apparatus, has successfully safeguarded its security and stability amidst a turbulent and chaotic regional landscape.
