Jordan Daily – The Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) party convened a meeting with ambassadors from several Arab nations and the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reaffirming support for Palestinian statehood.
The gathering, held at ABV’s headquarters in Sofia, was organized by party chairman Rumen Petkov and his foreign affairs advisor Anastas Terzobaliev. It brought together senior diplomats from Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, and Palestine under the slogan:
“No to Genocide – Support for Peace and the Right of Palestinians to an Independent State.”
“The world is in a state of chaos and dispersed wars. What is happening in Gaza is not merely a political crisis – it is a blatant violation of every humanitarian principle,” Petkov said
“When children are killed and their tragedy is reduced to numbers, silence becomes complicity.”
Petkov condemned in a statement received by Jordan Daily the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, citing the widespread destruction of infrastructure and shortages of basic necessities, including food, water, and medical supplies. He voiced support for the international declaration signed by 25 countries calling for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian access, and a just resolution to the conflict.
“Justice is not a matter of geography – it is a matter of conscience,” said Anastas Terzobaliev
He added “Palestinian children are my cause too. They have the right to life, to education, to hope. Our silence may condemn them to death… But our actions may grant them life.”
Attendees included:
H.E. Ali Reza Irvash , Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran
H.E. Nader Said , Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Dr. Asem Kurdi , Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Palestine
Dr. Saeed Ayed Al-Qahtani , Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar
H.E. Ghazi Hamad Al-Fadhli , Ambassador of the State of Kuwait
The event also featured the reading of a message from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi , who labeled the Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza as a war crime and urged the global community to act.
Ambassadors praised ABV’s initiative, calling it a moral stance in a time of growing global indifference.
“This is a courageous humanitarian position at a critical time,” said Ambassador Irvash.
As a symbolic gesture, Petkov presented attendees with a commemorative calendar marking the 1160th anniversary of the Christianization of Bulgaria, to be celebrated in 2025.
