EU approves €35 mln military aid package to boost Jordanian Armed Forces

Jordan Daily – The European Union on Monday approved a €35 million assistance package to strengthen the air defence capabilities of Jordanian Armed Forces,the Council of the EU said in a statement.

The decision marks the third bilateral support measure for Jordan under the European Peace Facility (EPF), bringing total EU military assistance to the country to €55.25 million.

The aid follows the signing of the EU-Jordan Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership and is aimed at deepening security and defence cooperation, one of the pact’s priority areas, the statement noted.

Under the new measure, the EU will supply short-range radars and a local command-and-control system, along with related equipment, training and maintenance support. The Council said the package is intended to bolster Jordan’s stability and its role in regional security.
