Iraqi Business Council in Amman organizes tripartite economic forum in May

Jordan Daily – The Economic Forum for Financial, Industrial, and Commercial Partnerships between Iraq, Jordan, and the region, organized by the Iraqi Business Council in Amman, is set to kick off on the fifth of next May.

The event is attracting significant official interest and broad participation from both the public and private sectors in the two countries and the region.

According to a statement by the Council on Wednesday, the forum, organized in cooperation with the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, will be inaugurated at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center in the Dead Sea area. Participants include ministers of industry and electricity from Iraq, alongside ministers from Jordan, business owners, investors, and Arab and foreign companies.

The forum will also see participation from the National Investment Commission in Iraq, the Federation of Arab Businessmen, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the International Finance Corporation(IFC), affiliated with the World Bank Group, the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) , Iraqi Private Banks League , Association of Banks in Jordan , Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) , and the Jordan Free and Development Zones.

The Council organizes the two-day forum, which includes an exhibition for companies and bilateral meetings with decision-makers from the two countries, coinciding with the Kingdom’s celebrations of the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II assuming his constitutional powers.

The forum’s working sessions focus on the most prominent investment opportunities in Jordan and Iraq, prospects for commercial and industrial opportunities in the two countries, the vision of economic modernization, investment in Iraq, investment opportunities in the region, in addition to investment opportunities in the Jordanian Free and Development Zones.

The sessions also focus on the role of the banking sector in providing financial facilities for the sectors of industry, energy, mining, transportation, and infrastructure, the role of international institutions in providing financial financing for investment projects, and showcasing success stories of Jordanian and Iraqi investment companies.
