Jordan Daily – The United Nations Alliance for Sustainable Development Goals (UNASDG) has named Jordanian Nujoud Al-Diqs as the Regional Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), a statement from the organization confirmed on Wednesday.
Al-Diqs, who has been serving as the Assistant Executive Director and Director of International Relations at the UNASDG’s MENA office in Amman, will now oversee the International Affairs Department in the region.
Senator Robin Egolf, head of the Diplomatic Council, expressed his support for Al-Diqs’ appointment, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts in infrastructure development that align with the sustainable development goals. He also stressed the importance of fostering government relations to advance these initiatives.
In his remarks, Egolf praised the support of Jordan’s King Abdullah II for sustainable development programs and underscored the country’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for comprehensive development. He acknowledged Jordan’s significant role in strengthening economic ties within the Middle East and with global markets.
The UNASDG, part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, is committed to promoting international cooperation to improve human health and social well-being globally, guided by the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations.
